Im 22 yrs old. My dad is disabled, i pay the bills n mortgage can i claim head of house?
I pay all the bills and mortgage but its his home and the bills are in his name. I really don’t have any proof saying that I pay the bills though because I deposit money into my fathers bank account and then the company withdraws whatever is owed. Last year I took over my step mothers house cleaning business and I also worked part time in retail. I made 17000 this year 12000 from cleaning houses and around 5000 from my part time job, which is over half of his income which he only made 2800 from his SSI. I was wondering if I could claim head of household even though everything is in his name, if not could I claim him as a dependent and would I still get money back
No, he is still the head of the household.
However since his income is so low and you are providing a lot for his living requirements, you can claim “Carers Grant” which is a scheme to pay half off your bills if your income is below a set amount of dollars/euros.
